Continue readingOn August 6th, FOX broadcasted a baseball game between the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals to a national audience. While watching this Royals team, who I thought to be completely dead in the water, earn thirteen runs to beat a strong Cubs team, I noticed an uncanny presence.
I stopped journaling during this whole thing. Initially I just sort of stopped thinking about it, then when I remembered that I wasn’t journaling I would think of how little I had to say. How many times could I write “This sucks, did the same thing today as yesterday, don’t care”?
I never really thought about twenty-five.
There is a box on my dresser in my childhood bedroom, where I’ve been staying since the weekend and where I’ll be staying for the foreseeable future, or at least until the Summer. I used it, for years, as a place where I left assorted little trinkets and keepsakes, but the years that it spent in disuse have provided me a sort of time capsule for events I’ve attended in years past.
